"We want to say thank you to Coach Darrell Hay, his wife Casey, and all of his coaching staff @ DHHD!! Casey, you are just a JOY to interact with and a solid backbone - we see you, and all you are doing!
Darrell, you are an exceptional coach and your knowledge, patience, and kindness have been invaluable to Ezra's growth thus far. Thank you to all DHHD coaches for providing a positive, constructive learning environment for Ezra to grow as both a hockey player and a young man. It is impressive to see how much he is improving already in a matter of several months. First year of hockey down, with an adventurous future ahead of him! We appreciate your personal investment.
So much gratitude" - The Stanton’sÂ

"As parents with no hockey background DHHD has been a huge asset all around. Obviously his talent, knowledge, and successes speak for themselves, but it’s how he treats the kids on/off the ice along with making sure the parents are informed and learning the process too. From getting all the gear on, importance of ice time, being available for questions (I’ve had a lot!), and setting real expectations he proves daily that he cares about everyone having knowledge to be able to continue to grow the sport in Boise. Our son lights up when he gets to tell us that Coach Darrell gave him knuckles or a tap from his hockey stick to say good job. He also takes the time to show each kid the correct way to do a drill over and over when he sees them struggling. The positive reinforcement and support really mean world to our 5 year old. He shows he truly cares every day. Getting the opportunity for the kids to skate on “Steelheads ice” was an awesome experience from the Spring Break DHHD Camp that I know our kiddo won’t forget! We absolutely say thank you Coach Darrell and will continue the hockey path with him leading the way."

"Darrell Hay has been an exceptional mentor for my son’s hockey journey.  Not only does he prioritize player growth, his coaching goes beyond the rink, creating well-rounded individuals who excel both on and off the ice. Coach Hay’s approach seamlessly blends sportsmanship  with character-building and, under coach Hay’s guidance, my son’s skills have improved substantially. Each hour on the ice with him and the DHHD team offer my son a level of comprehensive development unmatched in the valley.  We are immensely grateful for his commitment to shaping not just highly skilled competitive hockey players but well-rounded humans beings too. "Since we have put our 12U in DHHD we have seen an increase in his stick and puck handling as well as a higher awareness on the ice. Over the last 3 years under Coach Hay’s instruction, we have seen our son grow on and off the ice. The ice has been a place where our shy kid has found a place that he feels like he belongs. Working with the staff at DHHD has helped him develop confidence, a greater level of technique ,and dedication to the sport. We are very grateful for Coach Hay and the dedication of his staff. They have been positive role models that lift him up and challenge him to be a better human not only on the ice but off the ice in everyday life as well. Thank you all at DHHD for helping create skilled, team players."

“Darrell is a one-of-a-kind coach, and you will not find a better one in Boise. He knows what he is coaching and how to coach it. He works on fundamentals and makes sure all of the details are perfect. These practices have turned me from struggling to get ice time to leading the team in points in a matter of months. He will also teach you how to be coachable, and how to show respect. He doesn't give any praise for less than perfection. He also will get you ready for in game scenarios with his small area games. His practices are the same amount of fun and hard work, and it is definitely worth the effort.”

“Can’t recommend DHHD enough! My son has improved drastically since working with Darrell. It is the best investment we’ve made with such a huge payoff. DHHD is extremely organized, thorough & dependable which I really appreciate when it comes to all the logistics of having a hockey player. Darrell is passionate about what he does & pulls out the best in everyone he coaches. I HIGHLY recommend DHHD.”

“We can not say enough great things about DHHD. We have had our son work with Darrell for three years now. The strides he has made from working with Darrell on and off the ice has been amazing. Darrell not only teaches his athletes hockey but also what they need to do off the ice in the classroom, at home, and in their community to be a better athlete. He teaches his athletes to be a team, and to work together. DHHD has been the most hands on training our athlete has received, Darrell and coaches care about their athletes, and literally get down on the ice to show their athletes how their feet and hands should be working in the drills if they are not picking up on the drill. There is no one else we trust more with our athletes growth in this sport than DHHD. As a parent, DHHD is always approachable and provides feedback whenever requested. They are not only training the athlete but also us parents. Darrell is always providing feedback to the parents on the training their athlete is doing and how it will help their skills when it comes to game time situations and decision making. We love Darrell, and the amazing things he is doing with DHHD, and all their athletes. We can not say enough great things about this program and their coaches!!!"
